Sophia Voight is a multimedia journalist and assistant editor of Wood Floor Business magazine. As assistant editor, Voight leads the content production of six print and online magazines. In addition to editorial works, she produces a twice-weekly newsletter that goes out to 14,000 industry professionals and produces the magazine's podcast.

She previously worked as a local government and politics reporter for The Post-Crescent and USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin. At The Post-Crescent, she focuses on investigating local government, building engagement in elections, covering state politics and highlighting grassroots activism.

With USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, Voight helped launch a statewide election project that put voters at the helm of political coverage. The project skewed away from horse-race journalism of polls and campaign antics and focused on what voters were concerned about and what they wanted their candidates to do once in office. Voight’s work included conducting statewide surveys, helping run listening sessions and talking directly with voters.

Beyond The Post-Crescent, Voight regularly contributes to PolitiFact, where she fact-checks claims for accuracy and context from local, state and national politicians.

Her previous work includes reporting for the Hastings Star Gazette in Minnesota where Voight helped relaunch an esteemed local newspaper that had gone under during the pandemic, restoring local, in-depth, daily news to the community.

Throughout her career, Voight has carved out a space in her work to explore the culture of the LGBTQ+ community and the issues they face. Her work has highlighted influential queer history in rural communities, dazzling drag nightclubs and performers, and salon owners providing gender-affirming beauty care. Her reporting has exposed transphobia from elected officials and community members which has incited weeks-long demonstrations and pro-trans rallies, leading to safer communities for transgender individuals.
